Search Engine Technology for Unstructured Data Indexing and Classification

This presentation will cover an overview of key concepts and processes applied by search engines to harvest unstructured data and convert it into structured metadata index for rapid retrieval of information.

An emphasis will be placed on how this process is utilized to solve information retrieval problems of the Enterprise.

Two search engine portal projects that are currently under implementation will be used as live examples of key business requirements and the technical solutions applied to meet these requirements.

Speaker

Efrem Habteselassie, is a Senior Consultant of Acis Consulting and since 1992 has been building system integration and consulting services utilizing the FAST Search Engine and Stratify taxonomy development platforms. Prior to this Efrem worked at IBM Canada Software Development Laboratories for a period of 8 years where he was directly involved in development of various IBM software products including IBM C++ Compiler, IBM X25 and TCP/IP communications products.
