The ETL process is invariably the most labour intensive aspect of BI/DW implementation and upkeep, often taking well over 50% of the total project effort. Different vendors have tackled this challenge with varying degrees of success. This session looks beyond what vendors are currently offering to discuss the elusive challenge of best practices in process control in our increasingly complex ETL environments.
Dave Xie is currently working as Data Warehouse Architect in the Informatics Division of Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. His experience includes over 6 large scale DW projects for head offices of banks, distributed Data Marts, and Operational Data Stores. He has 8 years of experience in ORACLE, Sybase IQ, Sybase ASE, and Informix, with 4 years data warehouse architecture on Hyperion (Brio) platform (ROLAP and MOLAP), data modelling in Erwin, Multi-Dimensional DB's, and Business Rules in Powerdesigner. He also has experience as a banking consultant.
