Speaker

Warren Shiau is a respected technology analyst and research consultant with sectoral expertise in software, hardware and communications. His wide-ranging experience in IT-industry research and analysis includes positions at The Research Board division of Gartner Inc. in New York, and International Data Corporation (IDC) where he was the lead Canadian-market software analyst.

At The Strategic Counsel, Warren is responsible for IT market research, including market analysis and forecasting, ad-hoc client inquiries, white papers and position statements, syndicated and custom market studies, and competitive analysis.

Warren's research, speaking engagement and white paper clients have included Microsoft, Oracle, Novell, IBM, Lenovo, CA, Hewlett-Packard, Motorola, MCI and SAP among others. Warren is frequently quoted in Canadian trade press or national print media in the technology arena and has frequently appeared on national television (ROBtv, etc.).

Prior to joining The Strategic Counsel in 2005, Warren was the research manager and lead analyst for Canadian market software research at International Data Corporation (IDC).

Location: Northern District Library room, 224BC. This library is located a short block north of the Eglinton and Yonge subway station (just past the Eglinton Centre) at 40 Orchard View Blvd, Toronto. There is parking at several nearby lots.
