For our first speaker we are pleased to welcome to Toronto Esli Badenhorst Chief Technologist at LogicWorks, Princeton, New Jersey. Esli is an expert in the IDEF methodologies that have become, largely through the influence of the U.S. Federal Government, an effective modelling 'standard'. He will address:
Prior to his time at LogicWorks, Esli worked at Anderson Consulting and with another leading CASE vendor. He specialises in facilitating modelling sessions. In addition, courtesy of LogicWorks, two leading books on IDEF will be raffled off to attendees.
Open systems offer choice in selecting technology suppliers, in how technology is deployed, and in selecting the right tools for the task at hand. Successfully managing diverse tools and technology requires standards, but not all open systems standards are created equal and not all will lead to freedom of choice. To select the right standards, you need to understand what makes a standard good and how your architectural choices guide your standards requirements. This talk focuses on equipping you with the tools you need to make the right standards choices. The examples are from an MIS environment, and concentrate on software development.
Brad Brown is a technical planner with National Grocers Co Ltd. He is project leader for a move to open systems and focuses on overall systems architecture.
