For a change of pace, the next DW SIG meeting will be at an Internet caf� on Thursday, September 25. The purpose of the evening is two-fold: to officially launch the Internet Discussion Group for the SIG, and to have a social evening where people can chat and to get to know each other in the SIG (this would also facilitate discussions over the Internet, since people would be able to put a face to the name).
The session will be held 6-8 pm at the Electric Bean CyberCaf� at 10 Eglinton Avenue East (a few doors east of Yonge Street on the north side of Eglinton Avenue). The Caf� is fairly large, and we will have an area where Internet-connected PCs are reserved for ourselves. Refreshments will of course be available in the caf�. However the SIG will not be picking up the tab but will discount attendance by five dollars - that is, there's no charge for IRMAC members, and it will be $10 for non-members.
The format of the evening would be a short welcome to the event, then each person will be invited to give a 30-second "elevator speech" about their particular DW area of interest, and then mingling / getting on the Internet to post messages to the discussion group Web page. Should be interesting to have the authors of the posted notes in the room for face to face dialogue! You may also have time to access interesting DW sites through the IRMAC Web site.
