Four Trends in Business Intelligence that Cannot be Ignored

As the business intelligence marketplace consolidates and matures there are a number of interesting trends that will shape the next generation of the industry.

  • First trend is the impending deluge of data that will come from new sources for data for analysis.
  • Second trend is the emergence of pervasive BI whereby organizations are proliferating business intelligence capabilities up and down the hierarchy of knowledge workers in the enterprise with the special emphasis on BI for operational decision making.
  • Third trend is the shift of processing from external data marts to an integrated data warehouse approach- with radical shifts on how we architect solutions for OLAP, data mining, and data integration.
  • Fourth trend is toward the integration of non-traditional data types into the data warehouse, including unstructured and semi-structured data alongside traditional record-based content.

Each of these trends will be discussed along with real customer examples of their implementation in practice.
