Repositories: Alive and Well and Living in Toronto
IRMAC invites you to this Mini Repository Seminar, sponsored by Computer Associates. Presentations will be short, punchy and informative with plenty of time for your questions.
- Welcome, IRMAC
- Todd Moore, Royal Bank
- Sarah Weiss, Canadian Tire
- Don Soulsby, Computer Associates
The Royal Bank’s innovative Data Warehouse infrastructure includes the storage of metadata for the warehouse and delivery of metadata via the Web. The presentation will explore the reasons why the data repository was created and some of the practical problems encountered in delivering metadata for the enterprise.
At Canadian Tire, the enterprise Meta model ties together information about our data and processes on the mainframe side. It is a navigational map that shows how objects are related in nearly 10 different sub-model types comprising DB2, IMS, JCL and PLI sub-models. Our repository is both, a common working tool for developers as well as the environment where the IMS data administration resides. It serves as an analysis, design and construction aid for more than 100 developers across IT, being an essential component of our enterprise development methodology. Attendees will be introduced to:
- Our business case for the replacement of an in-house developed repository
- Canadian Tire implementation of Platinum Repository/MVS
- Transformation rules & impact analysis
- Oracle and IMS data administration
- What is the value of the tool in our enterprise?
- Future directions
