Look Who’s Asking for Metadata These Days: The New Business & Regulatory Drivers

The new business drivers for metadata are shifting more and more towards the need for traceability. Whether for regulatory purposes such as SOX, privacy and the USA Patriot Act, or for the purposes of audit and compliance, organizations need an end-to-end trail of their data. They need to know where their data came from (the sources), where is wound up (the targets) and what happened to it along the way (business rules, ETL, cleansing, etc). On Jan 11th, BMO shares their experiences with traceability and how metadata meets the new demands.

It’s also the first Metadata SIG for the year. New and existing members are encouraged to attend. Please bring your ideas along for upcoming Metadata SIGs. We’ll do a round table and prioritize future topics.
