The Business Case for Data Warehousing

This talk will examine the Canadian and worldwide data warehousing markets, and cover some of the underlying  business issues and drivers behind implementing a data warehouse. Our view will be to understand what makes a successful implementation.

Speaker

John Shoesmith is Research Manager in the Software Group at IDC Canada. In this capacity, he administers the Canadian Software Continuous Information Service. He writes and researches on almost all aspects of the domestic software market, with a special emphasis on the data warehouse and ERP markets in Canada. Mr. Shoesmith also works on proprietary and multiclient research for IDC. He joined IDC Canada in September 1997.

Prior to joining IDC, Mr. Shoesmith was an editor with Computing Canada, one of the country’s leading IT publications. He holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Journalism from Ryerson Polytechnic University.
