The Next Five in Five

Over the next five years, the way we live and work will change thanks to several emerging technology innovations. These technologies — some of which are being developed right here in our own backyard — will have a significant impact on both business and society, addressing important areas such as healthcare and the environment.

As President of IBM Canada Ltd., Dan Fortin is responsible for the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of the IBM organization in Canada. Named to his current position in January 2005, Dan leads a team of approximately 20,000 professionals in providing industry-leading solutions to help IBM clients address today’s most pressing business challenges.Since joining IBM in 1978, Dan has held a number of prominent marketing and management positions, overseeing divisions in Canada, the United States and Latin America.

Most recently, Dan was Vice President of Small and Medium Business for IBM Americas located in New York City, where he was responsible for developing, supporting and delivering e-business on demand solutions to clients across North and South America. Prior to that, he was Vice President of Business Partners for IBM Americas, managing IBM’s relationship with a network of resellers, distributors and solution providers. Dan also played an integral role in the creation of Americas, where he served as Vice President of this successful network of call centres, employing thousands of people in North and South America.

Dan is a native of Quebec and is fluent in both English and French. He graduated in 1978 with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree from Carleton University in Ottawa.

The Albany Club has a business casual dress code. No jeans or athletic shoes please.

Members: Attendance is free for IRMAC members (A maximum of three free lunches for Corporate Members). Please reserve your place prior to Friday June 6 (4 p.m.), the online form at lunch.htm. Please indicate on the form if an alternate meal is required. Reservations will close on this date or when all seats are filled. Reservations are important. If you are unable to attend and have already reserved, please let us know since we must pay for every reservation whether you attend or not.

Guests: A guest fee of $60 applies to non-members. To keep our costs down guest tickets will only be issued online using Visa, MasterCard or American Express. Please see for guest ticket sales.
